چکیده

This paper examines the properties of a regularization of the Burgers equation in one and multiple dimensions using a filtered convective velocity, which we have dubbed as the convectively filtered Burgers (CFB) equation. A physical motivation behind the filtering technique is presented. An existence and uniqueness theorem for multiple dimensions and a general class of filters is proven. Multiple invariants of motion are found for the CFB equation which are shown to be shared with the viscous and inviscid Burgers equations. Traveling wave solutions are found for a general class of filters and are shown to converge to weak solutions of the inviscid Burgers equation with the correct wave speed. Numerical simulations are conducted in 1D and 2D cases where the shock behavior, shock thickness and kinetic energy decay are examined. Energy spectra are also examined and are shown to be related to the smoothness of the solutions. This approach is presented with the hope of being extended to shock regularization of compressible Euler equations. PACS numbers: 47.10.ab, 47.27.ep, 47.27.em, 47.40.−x

Numerical solution of the one dimensional non-linear Burgers equation using the Adomian decomposition method and the comparison between the modified Local Crank-Nicolson method and the VIM exact ‎solution

The Burgers’ equation is a simplified form of the Navier-Stokes equations that very well represents their non-linear features. In this paper, numerical methods of the Adomian decomposition and the Modified Crank – Nicholson, used for solving the one-dimensional Burgers’ equation, have been compared. These numerical methods have also been compared with the analytical method. In contrast to...

Electro-magneto-hydrodynamics Flows of Burgers' Fluids in Cylindrical Domains with Time Exponential Memory

This paper investigates the axial unsteady flow of a generalized Burgers’ fluid with fractional constitutive equation in a circular micro-tube, in presence of a time-dependent pressure gradient and an electric field parallel to flow direction and a magnetic field perpendicular on the flow direction. The mathematical model used in this work is based on a time-nonlocal constitutive equation for s...

Wavelets meet Burgulence : CVS-filtered Burgers equation

Numerical experiments with the one dimensional inviscid Burgers equation show that filtering the solution at each time step in a way similar to CVS (Coherent Vortex Simulation) gives the solution of the viscous Burgers equation. The CVS filter used here is based on a complex-valued translationinvariant wavelet representation of the velocity, from which one selects the wavelet coefficients havin...

Comparison of The LBM With the Modified Local Crank-Nicolson Method Solution of Transient Two-Dimensional Non-Linear Burgers Equation

Burgers equation is a simplified form of the Navier-Stokes equation that represents the non-linear features of it. In this paper, the transient two-dimensional non-linear Burgers equation is solved using the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). The results are compared with the Modified Local Crank-Nicolson method (MLCN) and exact solutions. The LBM has been emerged as a new numerical method for sol...
